Dr John Russell

Dr Russell has been a GP since 1986.  He has wide experience in all aspects of general practice, with particular interest in sport medicine and paediatrics.

Dr Paul Stephens

Dr Stephens has been a GP since 1977.  He has experience in all aspects of general practice, including child and youth adult health, preventative health, skin health (including removal of skin cancers) and vasectomies.

Dr Clare Hamilton

Dr Hamilton is originally from the UK, trained in Auckland and been a GP since 2002.  A special interest in child health, teenage health and women's health.

Dr Shirley Chan

Dr Shirley Chan is a long time local being born in Hamilton and growing up in the Waikato.  She first became a Pharmacist and then went on to Otago University to study to become a Doctor.  She has been a GP since 2001 and joined to Cambridge Medical Centre team in 2013.  Dr Shirley has interests in all aspects of general practice, and in particular children and families.

Dr Hena Mahal

Dr Hena Mahal has been a GP since 2009 and joined the team here at Cambridge Medical Centre in 2014.  She grew up in India and worked in various multi-specialty hospitals and medical clinics before moving to New Zealand in 2005.  Dr Hena has interests in all aspects of General Practice, particularly children's health.  Dr Hena is working towards a Diploma in Sports Medicine.

Dr Nurus Halbi

Dr Nurus Halbi moved to new Zealand from Brunei in 2003 having been awarded a scholarship to the University of Otago to study medicine.  Dr Nurus graduated in 2008 and spent time in general and emergency medicine within the hospital setting.  Dr Nurus started her GP training in 2013 and joined the team at Cambridge Medical Centre in 2014.  She is now a qualified GP and has a special interest in Women's health.

Dr David Smylie

Dr David Smylie gained his medical degree from Aberdeen University, in his native Scotland, in 1986.  He completed specialist training in General Practice, at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey, England, with jobs in Emergency Medicine, Obstretrics and Gynaegology, General and Neonatal Paediatric, General Medicine, Cardiology and Dermatology. In 1992, Dr David moved to Paeroa, New Zealand where he helped establish the new Paeroa Medical Centre, and enjoyed serving as the Honorary Physician for the Thames Valley Rugby Union. In 1999, after a spell as a Registrar in Endocrinology at Waikato Hospital, Dr David, and his family moved to Connecticut, USA, where he worked as a Family Practitioner, as well as being on staff as an Attending Physician at the local hospital.

New Zealand drew the family back, and, in 2004, Dr David became a partner at NorthCare Medical Centre, in Hamilton. He also spent time in Melbourne, as medical director of a primary care clinic, before working in various parts of Australia - including some remote Aboriginal communities. Dr David enjoys all aspects of general medicine, especially paediatrics and dermatology, but has a particular passion for medical education, having held teaching positions with the University of Connecticut and at the University of Melbourne. Dr David has been with our team since 2016.

Dr Maysa Mahmoud

Dr Mahmoud commenced her training in General Practice in 2011 in the Hawkes Bay region.  She has also spent time completing her GP training at the Hamilton Radius Medical Centre and Mornington Health Centre in Dunedin before moving to Auckland where she worked for Mt. Wellington Family Health Centre from December 2015 to December 2016.  Dr Mahmoud has recently completed a certificate of Women's Health at Otago University as well as the Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.  Before starting GP training her hospital based experience included different medical and surgical rotations in the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK and also at Hawkes Bay Hospital following her move to New Zealand in 2008.  She is the newest member of the Cambridge Medical Centre team joining us in 2017.
